When I have leftover pasta sauce, I make this quick and easy naan pizza. It’s a healthy snack for everybody.
- 2 whole wheat naan*
- 1/2 cup red sauce or white sauce (as used on pasta, links below)
- 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
- Some shredded havarti cheese, or other cheese
- Alternatively, skip the cheese and load it up with extra sauce, olives, tomato, garlic slices, red chilli flakes, etc.
Preheat the oven to 350⁰. Place the naan on a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce or white sauce all over the naan right up to the edges. Put the oregano onto the palm of one hand and then rub the palms together over the pizza, crushing and sprinkling it evenly. Top with cheese and/or veggies. (The picture: pizza on the left is half white sauce, half red sauce with cheese; the pizza on the right is just red sauce and veggies.)
Put the tray in the oven for 7 – 8 minutes; then slide the pizzas off the baking tray and directly onto the oven rack for about 2 minutes more to make it crispy. Transfer back to the tray and serve.
*In karachi this is Brown Naan, made with atta, but white naan would be fine too.
