Make your own Chocolate Syrup

When you make it yourself, you know exactly what goes in it. I like that!

  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup sugar*
  • 1/3 cup milk

Whisk together in a small saucepan over low heat. When it comes to a boil, simmer for about one minute, stirring throughout. Remove from heat and serve. Makes 1/2 cup syrup.

This is a delicious topping for ice cream or waffles (or both!). It is also the base for hot chocolate and chocolate milk. To make either, just add an additional cup of milk to the cooked syrup then strain and… warm or chill.

* Any granulated sugar is fine, but I usually use demerera unrefined sugar.
